SOCIAL INTEGRATION THESIS
This thesis design is inspired by James Stirling’s abstract and representational style. The design proposed is an extension to the Chemistry Department for Cambridge University. The circulation and social interaction within the site is portrayed by the approach into the building. By bisecting the site and creating a grand street like space. This is glazed over with an atrium connecting the two buildings. It would become a destination point to meet or shop for students and local residents. A circular staircase unifies the laboratories, lecture halls and teaching spaces on the other floors.
